Join Teresa Coenen as she introduces her faith-based pattern. Songs of Faith is a king/queen-size quilt with 24 blocks that focus on the lyrics of 24 amazing hymns. We began the quilt in October 2018, covering two hymns each month, for a total of 12 months, to conclude in September 2019.
Here is an image of the quilt design -- with Month 1-4 blocks placed in no particular order. Please note that you will have opportunities to repeat some of your favorite blocks, but PLEASE do no construct the blocks until directed to do so.
The finished quilt will measure 100"x103" (could reduce borders and create a queen-size quilt) and will include three 16-1/2" (finished) blocks and twenty-one 7-1/2" (finished) blocks.
Rough Fabric Requirements (10/22/18) These requirements are not precise -- borders, sashing, binding are fairly accurate. Block fabric will vary for each quilter, based on cutting style and variety of fabrics
Outer Border, Fill
It is hard to tell you how much of your block yardage should be lights, mediums, or dark values. It truly depends on the border fabric you will choose. If you look at the fabrics that we've chosen for our sample quilts (see bundle pics), you can see how I collected fabrics that will look good with my border print. On the batik quilt, the fabrics all have a similar value, and pull from the colors in the larger scale border print. On the neutral Songbook fabric, you'll note that most of the fabrics I've collected for the blocks are light and neutral. I don't want my blocks to overpower my soft, neutral border print. Hope this little tip helps.
